Blog Post 5

Greetings,

Welcome back, today express our opinions Web 2.0 tools that are useful to us in the classroom. I find 2 that are very useful and vital to me as a future educator. One of them being power point presentations. I find this to be a great tool for the classroom because it aids students in focusing and it also aids them in following along. It is also a way to get creative with presentations to grab your students attention, this brings me to the next tool I believe is very vital. This is video tools, when I was in high school I loved when my government and science teacher would show me videos on a certain topic, this helped me reference back to the video when I was testing and trying to explain the topic to myself for testing reasons or to generally understand the subject.
An Web 2.0 tool I would love to use in my classroom is podcast. I want to teach US government, podcast would really change up the day and hold my students attention. Podcasts cover recent groundbreaking news and they also have a recording of history, when I have to revert back to explain old things in history that still impact us in society. I would also like to utilize recent videos in pop culture to explain to my students about government policy and why it is so important to know your rights and be able to educate others on their rights as well. Videos showcasing arrest and court cases from law and order can definitely put things into perspective for my students.
A technology advancement that I feel holds a lot of promise is correspondence courses. Often times students get sick for a while or it can be the common cold preventing them from coming to school. However when this happens it is easy to get left behind and get quite discouraged. These courses provide books and assignments that were missed for the student through the postal delivery system. This is a way to help students stay on track with their class mates and not feel entirely left behind when they are able to return to the physical school setting. Thank you again for reading !

Greetings and Welcome Back ,

Everyone uses twitter, it is a form of communication between individuals near and across the world. This form of communication can be surface level relationships and it can make deep friendships that you never thought were possible. This is done by watching the person tweet things about their day and aspects of life they find inspiring. Finding similar things you have in common and sharing opinions is a great part of twitter.I have experienced this through our EME class conversations and interactions on twitter. It feels great when people retweet your quotes and share the same education ideals as other future educators. I have interacted with classmates and we also retweet each other because we sometimes we find that we use the same quotes which shows how powerful those quotes are and the resonation it has with people in society.
As we move through the class, we discuss issues such as the digital divide . This is a big issues in a lot of schools. The digital divide is really based on students not having access to technology, although teachers continue to make it apart of assignments. This can be detrimental to a student's success because students in low income families most likely do not have access to computers and articles they need to complete assignments. Causes of the digital divide can be low income family issues, single parent incomes and family issues can come into play as well. This can have an affect how teachers conduct their classrooms because society is becoming heavily based on technology. This can leave students who can not afford technology behind and stunt their education growth within the classroom and also stunt teaching strategies that are needed for a bigger percentage of the class.I as a teacher can provide technology within the classroom for students to be able to complete their homework and assignments that require technology.
Student software can help a lot of students educate and exercise their minds by practicing outside of a lecture based environment. There are two student softwares I would like to incorporate within my class room for 9th grade mathematics. One of them being Math Mechanixs and the other being GeoGebra, I want my students to be able to teach themselves through this software and also make it fun for them by encouraging this type of behavior with technology.

Blog 3

Welcome back to my blog ,

This week we will talk about ELA technology standards that personally can be used with in my classroom. There are quite a few that I would love to implement with my students. The first would be connecting text to oral and visual representations. I feel like this would be great to implement because growing up in school I found it hard ti focus, however when my teacher would relate topics to visual representations I will truly begin to understand. I also reverted back to these images during my test, it is a great memory tool. This falls under multimedia literature, another aspect under this topic I would like to use would be comparing written story/drama/poem to audio, filmed stage, analyzing techniques such as sound color, camera focus/angle. We can use this in my classroom to also tie back to current media that relates to youth. When things are more personal, individuals tend to remember more and embed it in their memories.

There is a plethora of technology that can used within the classroom. Specifically technology software/applications. I will provide an example of how it can used within my personal classroom. This class is an english class for high school sophomores, we can learn verbs and vocabulary words through online softwares like scramble or charades. Students love competition and will engage because of prizes and a change of just learning through the textbook. Also using storytelling through the application audible, it can be a great read along for the entire classroom. The age range of my class, tend to loose focus quickly and soft ware and applications such as this can really keep their attention, at least for a little while.

Finally for this week's blog post I would like to address the Newsletter I composed last week. I loved the assignment because I was able to partake in a real educator situation and add my own flare to it. In learned how to make columns and add pictures. I also learned how to make a border which I never knew how simple it all could really be. I would like to incorporate this in my classroom by conducting a monthly newsletter for parents that unfortunately do not have the time to be involved in thier child's schooling as frequently as they would like because of work obligations. An imporvement will be invluding my students masterpieces to my newsletter so it can relate more to the parents . I believe seeing your child's progression encourages the child to do better because they love encouragement from their parents.

Blog Post 2

Welcome back,

From a young age, our first introduction to Microsoft Word was very early. Simply because this tool is vital to our education, it is used for at least 80% of assignments that we must turn in. I find Microsoft Word to be huge necessity in my life, I use it for small assignments and for aspects that might not even relate to my education. It is a great base to get your point across to other individuals with edits, pictures, graphs and different forms of format. So far in my education path I have seen teacher's heavily rely upon Microsoft. They even have formats they would like to see used. For example 1 inch magins, 12 pt font and times new roman lettering. This type of things have become the norm through the education world.
I did not understand copyright issues as I progressed through my education.  I saw it sometimes on DVD's but I always ignored it. Copyright is a right that was created by this country to claim ownership of things you created. For example I am writing this blog, therefore I own the rights to my writing. It came from me and me alone. The same could be said for the creator of a movie, that person owns it. When another individual attempts to bootleg or create a copy and sell it it becomes a crime because rights are being violated. As a teacher I would like to acknowledge early on in my classroom what copyrighting is and seriousness of this situation. Creating ways to show my students how it feels to have something taken from them, and reused in the same way that my students originally created it. In order to prove this I can make the students create something meaningful to them . After have them create a set of copyright rules, once they are done I will illustrate how each one can and will be broken. Doing this will help convey the seriousness of the copyright laws.
While reading the implementation aspect, I see a valid reason for these issues. Three solutions for some of them implementation for my class room can be used for a couple of issues. TurnItIN as a way to turn in assignments can be help with academic dishonesty . Also giving out different assignments so it would be harder to cheat or share assignments. Another solution can be for Freedom of Speech , discussing what the students feel is offensive and hurtful towards each can other can help with what is being said in the class, however I do not believe in restricitng someone's voice. Lastly another solution to the implementation issues is for Privacy. I believe in stressing the importance of privacy before we begin assignments, also conveying situations about how privacy can affect people in thier other lives.

" Current and future teachers must embrace this change, particularly in light of the changing skill sets that students need for success in the 21st century." The world is evolving everyday but what continues to remain consistent is the use of technology. It is a vital part of society that changes but the use of technology never lowers. This is a great reason for technology to be used within the classroom, students can learn how to access and use it for educational purposes. Teachers are influenced to use technology in order to make things easier and also more relatable to students. Teachers also can use technology as an administrative assistant through things like presentation, administrative support and lesson planning . Technology offers support in an efficient way for both the teachers and students.
From the reading I learned that ITSE purpose to aid students and teachers stay up to date with tools needed in this digital age which I find very useful since technology is constantly evolving . I found communication and collaboration to be very useful and makes  me happy to see. With the possibilities of the digital age you can expand education's reach to those who otherwise cannot afford to be in the same vicinity as the professor. An aspect that I feel is outside of my current skill set is developing the digital age through assessments, I feel that it is outside my skill set because I am not as advanced in technology but I feel like its a learning experience for both sides. I also believe that it does not always have to be complicated to make advances in educational technology as I had previously perceived it to be.
Digital Natives are individuals that are brought up during the digital age of activity and technology . They are familiar with the computer, ipads and things of that nature from an early age .Yes I have seen a difference between digital natives and immigrants. One of them being that they are not as dependent on technology for their everyday use. Digital natives can not go more than 24 hours without the use of technology like phones or computers. The differences in my learning experiences is that I do not have the patience of finding things out and struggling because I am so use to having access to the internet and looking up things I need quickly. I anticipate my students being even more impatient than I am today because I feel technology will continue to take out everyday necessities we think are necessary. Thank you for reading my blog !

Greetings and Welcome to my Blog,

In today's society it has been become the norm to use some form of technology everyday. I have had several experiences with technology. I own a iPhone, a mac computer and a television. This are the items I use everyday if necessary. I create power points, web designs, I use them to read books and stay up to date on what is going on in the world through social media and news technology.
In this class I hope to learn the names of what I participate in everyday, meaning terms like central processing unit . I use it everyday and I had no idea what the name of it was. I also hope to learn new things for the professional, aspects that are deemed necessary.
I have learned that I deal more in facts then in picture related details, I am an introvert more so, its hard for me to work in groups I also prefer written and explanatory text. It is hard for me to interpret diagrams and graphs. I would rather it be based in certainty as well and also stray from theories. I like to learn factual concepts in class because it easier to comprehend. I hope to grow to in this class in that sense and explore the options that I am not comfortable with, I like to step out of what I know because it allows me to grow as a person.
