" Current and
future teachers must embrace this change, particularly in light of the changing skill sets that
students need for success in the 21st century." The world is evolving everyday but what continues to remain consistent is the use of technology. It is a vital part of society that changes but the use of technology never lowers. This is a great reason for technology to be used within the classroom, students can learn how to access and use it for educational purposes. Teachers are influenced to use technology in order to make things easier and also more relatable to students. Teachers also can use technology as an administrative assistant through things like presentation, administrative support and lesson planning . Technology offers support in an efficient way for both the teachers and students.
From the reading I learned that ITSE purpose to aid students and teachers stay up to date with tools needed in this digital age which I find very useful since technology is constantly evolving . I found communication and collaboration to be very useful and makes me happy to see. With the possibilities of the digital age you can expand education's reach to those who otherwise cannot afford to be in the same vicinity as the professor. An aspect that I feel is outside of my current skill set is developing the digital age through assessments, I feel that it is outside my skill set because I am not as advanced in technology but I feel like its a learning experience for both sides. I also believe that it does not always have to be complicated to make advances in educational technology as I had previously perceived it to be.
Digital Natives are individuals that are brought up during the digital age of activity and technology . They are familiar with the computer, ipads and things of that nature from an early age .Yes I have seen a difference between digital natives and immigrants. One of them being that they are not as dependent on technology for their everyday use. Digital natives can not go more than 24 hours without the use of technology like phones or computers. The differences in my learning experiences is that I do not have the patience of finding things out and struggling because I am so use to having access to the internet and looking up things I need quickly. I anticipate my students being even more impatient than I am today because I feel technology will continue to take out everyday necessities we think are necessary. Thank you for reading my blog !

Great post! I agree with the digital natives analogy because we are a part of a generation that is surrounded by too much technology not to use it. When I was 7, I didn't have an iPhone while now, most 7 year olds do. Technology continues to advance more and more over time so it will become more of a necessity and the cycle will continue as the future goes on.
ReplyDeleteHi Kenya, I really like this blog post. The quote at the beginning really grabbed my attention. I completely agree with you that digital natives have an expectation that information is always instantly available. It will be important to teach that not everyone is as privileged as the general public is today and technology has not always been there to find out information instantaneously.
ReplyDeleteI liked your response. I agree that technology helps with communication between teachers and students and with learning. It is interesting that while students are being challenged to learn, teachers are also being challenged to learn. I am ashamed to admit that I dont go more than 24 hours without technology. It is crazy to even process how dependent we are on it.
ReplyDeleteI liked that you emphasized that technology is constantly changing and how important it is that teachers keep up with it. It is interesting to think of what students will be like with technology when we are teaching them. They probably will be more impatient as they will be even more literate with technology than we are!
